AAU CHAMPIONSHIP MONDAY WAS AN ASTOUNDING SUCCESS

For the past 24 years, NY Metropolitan AAU Boys Basketball has hosted Championships Monday on Memorial Day. We use this day to both honor our military veterans as well as the AAU Basketball here in New York. This year, we experienced the most successful event ever. Attendance was tremendous as Island Garden was packed all day and into the evening. Games started promptly at 9:00 AM and continued until 7:30 PM. The excitement easily compared or exceeded any other sports event. The talent and team play were amazing. Probably more important than all else was the camaraderie that existed among the literally hundreds of players, parents, coaches, referees and spectators. There were no incidents of poor sportsmanship and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

AAU also honored the military heroes whom were to remembered on this day. We will be making a donation to the Wounded Warriors Project today in honor of those veterans who gave so much so that we could enjoy a day like Championship Monday.

We here at Island Garden love having everyone come out and share this special day with us. It is our intention to continue this celebration of basketball and honoring of our veterans for many years to come. Thank you to everyone who joined us on Memorial Day.

Here are the results. We hope to have many of these teams represent New York Metropolitan represent us at the AAU National Championships this summer.
