Governor Hochul announced yesterday that all indoor places in New York State must require all who come inside their facilities to wear masks. Failure to adhere to this mandate could result in a $1,000 fine for each occurrence. We have made every effort since the beginning of the pandemic to closely adhere to the orders of the Governor and to do everything reasonable to protect everyone who plays in our leagues. We will continue to do so.
Accordingly, beginning December 13 and continuing until there is a change in the policy, everyone who enters our facilities must wear a mask. We also have directed all referees and coaches that they must wear masks during the games. At this point, we are not requiring players actually on the court participating in the game to wear a mask. That is subject to change pending further inquiry with the Department of Health and Nassau County.
We will strictly enforce this face covering rule. Non-compliance will result in the person being asked to leave the premises. If that person refuses to put to leave, the game will be stopped.
We apologize for this inconvenience but we will follow the policy of the Governor as that is our responsibility.
